HBO has done it again!! HBO continues to deliver unique and creative new shows. As an African American myself, I’m personally proud of the amount of African American producers, writers, and Actors HBO has worked with. The show runner for HBO’s newest hit, Lovecraft Country is Misha Green. Misha is well known as the creator and executive producer of the TV show Underground. An amazing show based on the Underground Railroad. Lovecraft County is also executively Produced by other well known Hollywood talents like JJ Abrams and Jordan Peele. Lovecraft Country also boasts an amazing cast of stars like Jonathan Majors of Da 5 Bloods, Jurnee Smollet of The Underground, Courtney B Vance of The People vs O.J Simpson, and Michael Kenneth Williams of the Wire.

Lovecraft Country is based on a book of the same name written by Matt Ruff. The show is based in the 1950’s which can best be described as the Jim Crow era of America. A time in American where most things were segregated by race and the show tackled some of these discriminations head on. An African American ex soldier played by Jonathan Majors will embark on a road trip with his uncle played by Courtney B Vance and his friend played by Jurnee Smollet in search of his father played by Michael Kenneth Williams. On this road trip and after, the group will encounter some horrifying examples of racial biases. The crazy part is, as terrifying as some of these racial encounters are, they are nothing compared to some other horrifying things they will encounter throughout this show. The imagination of this author is truly incredible and the HBO team did an excellent job of portraying this imagination on the big screen.

Lovecraft country has had some truly terrifying yet stunning imagery in every episode so far. However, more incredible than the imagery is the acting of Jurnee Smollet and Jonathan Majors. In order to make this imagery believable, the co-stars are putting on an acting clinic. Every emotion, every feeling, and every facial expression has been flawlessly executed. I’m guaranteeing this show wins at least one award for their performances so bookmark this article and let me know when I’m proven correct. The whole cast is great, but I just had to acknowledge these stand out performances. The show finale is complete for this season and it is must watch TV. Let’s let HBO know loud and clear, Thank you and we want season 2.
